The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM) is used as the tool to determine the definition of mental health in our society. Our stance is that disorders as defined in the DSM should be "based on empirical research and devoid of cultural bias" and we are working to "urge the American Psychiatric's Assocation (APA) to remove all diagnoses that are not based upon peer-reviewed, empirical research, demonstrating distress or dysfunction, from the DSM".
